PMI ACP (Agile Certified Practitioner) is offered by PMI(Project Management Institute) which is very popular across the world for Project Management. Certification offered by PMI is worthy investment from Job market and Recruiter’s point of view. This certification is the new offering while CSM is being there in the market for a while. Even then, PMI ACP is still considered a better one in comparision since this certification emphasizes more on the overall iterative methodologies including SCRUM, Lean, Kanban and so on. Exam is based on 120 Objective type Questions conducted at Prometric Independent Test Center. Pass percentage is not defined by PMI. It is “believed” to be close to 75%. This certification needs a periodic renewal usually every 3 years. PMI ACP Training is a 2 days duration program. All PMI certifications, including PMI ACP can be taught by any Training provider and also PMI REP’s(Registered Education Providers).
CSM (Certified Scrum Master) is offered by the ScrumAlliance which was the only provider once upon a time to venture out to provide SCRUM related certifications. Offlate, there are atleast a couple of bodies which focus and provide similar to certifications like CSM. CSM primarily emphasizes on the SCRUM methodology only. Exam is based on the 35 Objective type Questions conducted by Training providers after the Training Completion in Supervision of Invigilator at Training Center. Achievement of 24 or above correct answers for 35 questions is considered as Pass. This certification needs a periodic renewal usually 2 years onwards. Certified Scrum Master Training is a 2 days duration program. CSM Training is provided by either CST (Certified Scrum Trainer) or ScrumAlliance REP’s(Registered Education Providers) only.
